10ml E-juice is the only bottle size allowed to be sold within the EU since 01-01-2018, provided it contains nicotine. When 10ml E-juice contains nicotine, it is subject to the laws of the TPD (Tobacco Product Directive). Yes, that’s right, 10ml E-juice with nicotine is considered and classified as a tobacco product, even though it does not contain tobacco. As odd as this classification is, it’s still better than the other option considered in 2017, which was to make it a pharmaceutical product. This would have been far worse as it would have severely limited the offer of different brands and flavors, and the price of such a product would have been much higher due to the even stricter regulation and requirements of making it a pharmaceutical product. So despite the challenges of creating a non-tobacco product in the same category as tobacco products, it still makes the most sense considering the other options.
